Tosamaidan is a wide alpine meadow in central Kashmir Budgam ,it is a destination where vast open grasslands meet the towering Pir Panjal mountain range. With its gentle rolling hills, fresh alpine breeze, and a blanket of green stretching as far as the eye can see, Tosa Maidan offers an experience of pure wilderness and serenity—away from the busy crowds of Gulmarg and Doodhpathri.
Surrounded by dense forests of deodar and pine, the meadow glows with vibrant colours in summer, making it a dream location for nature lovers, trekkers, and photographers. Situated just 55 km from srinagar, it is one of the most peaceful outdoor escapes in central Kashmir.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Drung (2,270M) – Starting Point of the Tosa Maidan Trek

Distance: 42 km from Srinagar
Duration: 3–4 hours

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Srinagar to Drung, a charming village near the famous Drung Waterfall. The route offers views of Kashmiri architecture, lush paddy fields, and alpine forests.
At the campsite, enjoy tea, snacks, and a trek briefing conducted by certified trek leaders. Overnight stay in tents with dinner provided.

Day 2: Trek from Drung to Dhanwas (2,886M)

Distance: 10 km
Duration: 6 hours

The trek begins through dense coniferous forests, gently opening into rolling meadows. A steep forest ascent rewards you with panoramic mountain views and a shepherd settlement where you refill water.
The final stretch is a beautiful walk across Kashmir’s alpine meadows, leading to the Dhanwas campsite.

Day 3: Dhanwas to Pehjan (3,283M)

Distance: 7 km
Duration: 4–5 hours

Today’s trail features open meadows, snow-clad mountain views, and a peaceful walk along a traditional water canal used by local shepherds.
If lucky, trekkers can witness large herds of sheep grazing near Pehjan, making for great photography. The campsite offers stunning high-altitude views and a warm bonfire evening

Day 4: Pehjan to Tosa Maidan (3,117M)

Distance: 10 km
Duration: 5 hours

This is one of the most scenic sections of the trek. Walk through vibrant pink flower beds, lush green pastures, and wide-open alpine valleys. After a short steep climb, the trail descends to Tosa Maidan, one of India’s largest high-altitude meadows.
The campsite lies next to a clear stream, surrounded by postcard-like meadow landscapes.

Day 5: Tosa Maidan to Noonwan Lake Camp (3,528M)

Distance: 10 km
Duration: 6–7 hours

A steady uphill ascent brings you to Noonwan, an extraordinary high-altitude lake campsite. Snow patches, alpine meadows, and dramatic ridgelines dominate the landscape.
This campsite is known for incredible sunsets, crystal-clear water, and peaceful surroundings.

Day 6: Explore the 4 Greater Lakes of Kashmir – Neelsar, Dhamamsar, Bhansar & Godsar

Distance: 10–12 km
Duration: 6–7 hours

This day is the highlight of the trek. After breakfast, hike to the four Greater Lakes of Kashmir, each unique in color, shape, and surroundings:

Neelsar Lake – Known for its bluish-green water

Dhamamsar Lake – Tucked below rugged cliffs

Bhansar Lake – Surrounded by boulder fields

Godsar Lake – The largest and most beautiful of the four
These glacial lakes offer breathtaking Himalayan views and are a photographer’s paradise.

Day 7: Noonwan → Tosa Maidan → Drive Back to Srinagar

Trek: 10 km
Drive: 45 km
Duration: 5 hrs trek + 3 hrs drive

Descend through meadows back to Tosa Maidan, soaking in final views of Kashmir’s vast alpine landscape. After a short ascent to the pickup point, drive back to Srinagar—ending the trek with unforgettable memories.
